These Noche Buenas rebozos are made of natural "manta" cotton and dyed thread. The pattern is that of a Noche Buena (Poinsettia) flower.Rebozo’s from Mitla, Oaxaca Mexico. The Rebozo has been used across time as textile of many uses. Int he birth work it may be used for body work, birth support , postpartum support and baby wearing. These lovely rebozos originate from the ancient town of Mitla , Oaxaca. Familia Martinez Mendez shares the following about their rebozos. “ We learned how to weave rebozos as taught by our ancestors who have left this as our heritage. We first learned to weave using a telar de cintura, waist loom . We now use a tela de chicoto, foot pedal loom. Our foot pedal loom’s do not require any artificial or combustible energy. The loom is activated by our foot, hand and eye coordination. Our thoughts are also an important part of the process. We are skilled at making rebozos as well as other fine textiles. Our rebozos are 100% cotton. A skilled weaver can make approximately two - three 2.7 meter rebozos a day.

Dimensions: 2 meters length not including tassels. The tassels at each end are approximately 15.5 cm / 6 inches.


Please keep in mind that these are artisan made and can be slightly longer, shorter, wider or narrower.
